Pastor Ken Pruitt
Ken Pruitt began his ministry as pastor at TLC on January 1, 2007. Ken, his wife Terry, and daughter's Nichole (9) and Bethany (6) come to Greenville from North Carolina where Ken served as pastor for eight years. Ken has served in ministry to students as well as pastoring, and has a heart for the church becoming a vital place of encouragement for every generation. Because of his tenure of ministry in established churches, and because of his being raised as a "pastor's kid", Ken brings to Legacy a knowledge of those elements of ministry that are effective for this generation, as well as an awareness of those elements that are no longer effective. From this vantage point, it is clear that Ken's heart is to teach and preach the message of God's Word with relevance and application from the motive of unconditional love. During his first three months at Legacy, Ken's approach has been to lead and teach the church to be "internally strong and externally focused." With a deep love for His Lord, for Greenville, and for the world, Ken is leading Legacy to be just that: a place that is internally strong with love and acceptance, and a place that is externally focused...taking the message of Jesus Christ to our community, our city, our county, and the world. You will not spend much time talking to Ken until you realize that second to Jesus, his greatest love is His family. He and Terry are high school sweethearts who feel a deep conviction that the marriage of the pastor and his wife should be a great example of a God-honoring relationship. Ken and Terry have two precious daughters who are adopted. Legacy is a place that truly believes in building a Legacy of faith for the generation to come. And no where is this more pertinent than within the homes and families of our communities. Legacy and Ken share this priority, and we are all indeed grateful God continues to lead and bless. To quote Ken, "I am extremely grateful for the founding work Norman led in (I am also grateful for the friendship I have wtih he and his family...and I am so glad they are a vital part of Legacy)...what an incredible stage of ministry God has set. I am grateful God has begun this work to make an impact on the upstate of South Carolina...a place I love dearly."
Founding Pastor: Norman Ponder Founding Pastor Norman Ponder is no stranger to church beginnings. From 1989 - 2000, Norman worked for the South Carolina Baptist Convention. Norman's main responsibility while employed there was to help start new churches across the Upstate of South Carolina. In addition to that valuable experience, Norman has pastored seven other churches, before answering God's call to begin The Legacy Church.Born in Greer, South Carolina, Norman Ponder grew up in Anderson where he graduated from high school in 1958. After high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served on an aircraft carrier until 1962. Upon returning home, Norman answered a call to ministry and enrolled in Anderson College. He met the love of his life, Connie, and the two were married in November of 1964. He later graduated from Delaware State College with a B.S. in Elementary Education. Norman then earned a Master of Divinity Degree from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky in 1977.The Ponders have created their own legacy of Christ's love in their family. The Ponders have three adult children: Dean, Christine, and Cindy. In addition, they have four beloved grandchildren. Norman enjoys woodworking, coin and stamp collecting in his spare time.Norman retired from The Legacy Church in December 2006, and made way for our new Pastor, Ken Pruitt. Norman has given us a strong foundation to stand on, and has inabled us to reach out to the Greenville community to reach others for Christ. The Ponders remain a vital part of The Legacy Church.Children's Ministry Leader: Dana StoneDana Stone has a passion for working with children. She has worked in various areas of Children's Ministries for the past seven years. Dana pours her time and energy into the children at Legacy. She wants to share her faith with the kids and give them a strong Christian foundation to grow on. A native of Greenville, Dana has been married to Michael Stone for 9 years and is the proud mother of three children, Madison, age 8, Will, age 6 and Wyatt, age 4.Administrative Assistant: Amy BuckmasterA life-long resident of Greenville, Amy Buckmaster met her husband Scott in high school and they have been married for nine years. Together, they are raising two children: Sarah, age 5, and Cole, 2, and they have served together in children's ministry for the last five years.Amy enjoys using her gifts of faith, administration and hospitality to keep the growing list of Legacy Church attendees informed through regular communications.

Legacy holds relationship building as a strong value of the community of faith. Sunday mornings, at the 10:00 worship time, you will feel welcome and embraced as we center our focus upon the ultimate relationship ... our place with Christ.

When visiting Legacy, please stop at the welcome table to pick up an outline of small group Bible Studies that are presently meeting. These studies are varied, and are formed out of a genuine desire to connect with others in small group settings while being encouraged through intentional time in God's Word.

The last two Wednesdays of February, Pastor Ken will host a "Welcome" class for all who are interested in knowing more about Legacy, and for those who are seeking membership. Please make plans to be a part of the "Welcome" class. Our Pastor would love to better know you and your family, and he would love to help you "get connected."

If you are interested in any of these opportunities, please use the contact information on the home page to contact any of our staff. Or, visit the welcome table in the lobby this Sunday.

A New Home…A New Beginning - Getting To Know Legacy

Legacy is a strong church founded on the principles of the Scripture, fueled by a passion for the Gospel, moved by a deep love for people, and committed to individual growth and discipleship. This community of believers has long awaited for God to reveal the location and ministry site for all that He has called Legacy to do, and to be. And, the time has come!

In November of 2007, God blessed Legacy with property, and a building. In December of '07 Legacy moved forward with the purchase and immediate transitional plans. As of January '08, Legacy has begun procedures to complete the necessary construction on the existing building.

Legacy is planning a "launch" into this new community as soon as construction is finalized (projection date for launch is to be announced in the coming weeks). The new location is 1441 Jonesville Road, in the immediate vicinity of Bells Crossing Elementary.

Plans are being made now for ministry events at the location prior to the launch. Please watch this website for updates and further information.

Legacy Church is excited about this new chapter of ministry, and invites you join the celebration of "connecting people to people" and "connecting people to Christ." If you feel disconnected with religion...with others...with the spiritual aspects of life...with church, then Legacy simply wants to say "welcome home." Welcome home to the very essence of who Jesus Christ is, and how His love changes our lives daily. And, before the launch to the new location, please join us at the Woodruff Road Location (map and directions found on this web page).
